A09 Dissecting the clonal hierarchy in MDS and involvement of the niche in the transition to secondary AML

MDS cases show both a clonal and clinical heterogeneity. We investigate the co-evolution of MDS cells and their niche to determine the mechanisms, which drive population dynamics, the transition to AML, and the response to azacytidine therapy. For this purpose, we study clonal-specific differentiation hierarchies and the MDS niche during progressing MDS, with the aim to improve MDS therapies by employing insights in evolutionary mechanisms.
