SFB 1243 Cancer Evolution: Genetic and Epigenetic Evolution of Hematopoietic Neoplasms

SFB1243_logo 200x200

The goal of the new SFB/CRC 1243 is to investigate different aspects of cancer evolution, in particular the poor prognosis of acute myeloid leukemia and indolent lymphomas, using an interdisciplinary approach including natural sciences, clinical sciences and computational biology. We will study the molecular mechanisms, measure the evolution of genetic, epigenetic and transcriptional heterogeneity in patients, mice and cellular systems and will use computational models to quantify relevant parameters. The close collaboration of clinicians, molecular biologists, population geneticists, computational and evolutionary biologists aims to achieve a basic understanding of the evolutionary dynamics of tumors. With an evolutionary-guided approach this interdisciplinary CRC will contribute to the development of better diagnostics, predictions and ultimately treatment options for cancer patients.

The SFB 1243 ended in March 2021, and this site is no longer updated.

We are unable to accept new applications for research or degree positions. If you are interested in a particular topic, please contact the project leader directly.
