Munich-based SFB on Cancer Evolution granted funding
SFB 1243 Cancer Evolution: Genetic and Epigenetic Evolution of Hematopoietic Neoplasms
09.12.2015
The SFB 1243 has been awarded funding from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Currently chaired by Prof. Heinrich Leonhardt, the SFB consortium is composed of research groups from the LMU Munich, TU Munich and Helmholtz Center Munich in clinical medicine, computational science and biology. The initial funding period begins as of January 1, 2016, and will continue for four years.
The goal of this research initiative is to combine clinical oncology, basic research and computational biology to understand how cancer evolves, concentrating on genetic and epigenetic variation that is shaped by mutation and selection during the progression of cancer.
